Self-Help Rehab Program

The Self Help Rehab Program is designed to assist in making minor and major home repairs to qualified homeowners with very low- or low-income who can furnish their share of the required labor input regardless of the handicap, age, race, color, national origin, religion, family status, or sex of the head of household. Each homeowner must be approved for funding to pay for materials through one or more of our grants/loans. The homeowner must reside outside of the Redding city limits and may not live in a mobile home park. As your application is received, we will make every effort to determine if you are eligible to receive any funding to make repairs to your home. Below are just a few of the Guidelines for qualifying for Grants/Loans.

USDA LOAN/GRANT:

Homeowners who are over the age of 62, can apply for a grant up to $10,000 or a20 year 1% low interest loan unsecured up to $40,000. The grant has several of rules, and  you must receive an application and fill it out entirely, so we can make every attempt at getting you qualified. Grants can only be received once in your lifetime, and you must live in your home for 3 years once you have received your funds. Below are income guidelines for pre-qualifying purposes. For loans, you must have a credit score of 620 or higher and proof of repayment ability.

HOUSING PRESERVAITON GRANT:

Homeowners of all ages can also apply for our Housing Preservation Grant to receive funds to purchase materials to help make repairs to their homes. Not every home will qualify for the same amount of funds. Below are income Guidelines required are Income (Below), own your home, not located in the City of Redding & not located in a mobile park.

SERVICE INFORMATION

Homeowners must be able to supply labor. Technical assistance is provided by SHHIP. Services include but are not limited to, roofing, plumbing, electrical, interior and exterior repairs or improvements, and handicap required remodeling.
